Conference Purpose 

The 20th GMSARN International Conference, scheduled for December 11-12, 2025, is a distinguished collaborative initiative organized by the Greater Mekong Subregion Academic and Research Network (GMSARN), the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), and the National University of Laos (NUOL). Hosted in Lao PDR, this conference will serve as a premier platform for advancing discussions on energy transition, environmental protection, and sustainable development within the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS).

Under the theme “Energy Transition and Environmental Protection: Driving Sustainable Growth in the GMS” this conference aims to facilitate high-level exchanges among academics, policymakers, industry leaders, and practitioners, fostering multidisciplinary collaboration to address pressing sustainability challenges. The conference will provide a strategic forum for sharing cutting-edge research, policy insights, and innovative solutions that drive sustainable energy development and environmental stewardship in the region.

GMSARN 2025 is committed to promoting regional and cross-border cooperation by integrating knowledge across diverse fields to develop comprehensive strategies for sustainable development. Key topics to be addressed include renewable energy integration, green financing, carbon neutrality strategies, climate adaptation, and circular economy solutions, with a particular emphasis on achieving a just and inclusive energy transition.
